Sally Arant

Sally Arant has enjoyed a life working passionately as a garden designer, nursery woman, naturalist and artist. She and her husband Tony have raised four kids and lived in many wild and beautiful places, including 25 years in Alaska. They are now settled in lovely little Anacortes, WA.
All of Sally’s loves, memories, and influences come together in her art, finding expression in a variety of sculptural and textural forms. Much of her art is influenced by the Japanese Wabi-sabi aesthetic, which gives reverence to the rustic elegance and simplicity of nature with all its imperfections and soulfulness. Sally is also inspired by the Scandinavian modern style, a nod to her Swedish heritage.
Sally works with materials as diverse as paper, copper, concrete, wood, repurposed finds, driftwood, stones, metal coatings, patinas and acrylics. These are used to create art forms that include cast concrete vases and bowls, mobiles, textural art panels, Asian-inspired decorative panels, and Suiseki stones in a unique PNW style.
All of Sally’s techniques are self-taught through experimentation and discovery. The creation of each piece is a mystery that unfolds in the vision and guiding hands of the artist. Sally’s favorite viewer’s response to her art is their need to quietly touch it.
