Dona Reed

Dona Reed draws inspiration from nature, particularly the motion, patterns, and forms of flora and fauna. Their work expresses these influences through strong lines, graphic shapes, negative space, and textured detail. Relief printmaking is their ideal medium—carving each block allows for precision while the tools impart a distinctive texture, and the hand-printing process ensures every piece is unique.

As both an artist and longtime art teacher, they have explored many media over the years, yet remain captivated by the timeless craft of block printing. After more than 50 years of artmaking, they continue to find joy in the elegant contrast of black and white, the backward thinking the process requires, and the occasional hand-added touch of color. Honoring centuries-old printmaking traditions while embracing new tools and approaches, they are proud to help carry the art form forward.
